About me

Hello, I’m Clare.

For me, building a trusting therapeutic relationship is at the heart of counselling. I take time to get to know you and understand your experience, without making assumptions. I hope that, in time, you'll feel comfortable talking openly, including about things that might be difficult to share elsewhere.

One of the things I find most rewarding about counselling is seeing people begin to understand themselves differently. This might involve recognising patterns they hadn't noticed before, making sense of difficult feelings or experiencing what it's like to be genuinely heard and understood.

Before qualifying as a counsellor, I spent many years working in the charitable sector. This gave me a broad understanding of people's different circumstances and experiences, and an appreciation of the complexities and challenges they can face. It's a perspective I bring to my counselling work, alongside a commitment to understanding each person as a whole, with care and respect for their individuality.

I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a Foundation Diploma in Therapeutic Safety in Trauma. I'm a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and work in accordance with its ethical framework.
